Telluride Plein Air Festival

Patrick Saunders was invited to participate in this year's Telluride Plein Air Festival, and he won third place with a painting of Cornet Falls Creek. We thought we knew Colorado pretty well, but had never been to Telluride before. This is definitely a part of the country where we plan to spend more time in the future - so much to paint and photograph. Summer temperatures there are perfect for Airstream life. We will take our time working our way up to 8,000 feet though, for the sake of our rig, and our own comfort. The week we spent in Telluride was wonderful, but the rapid elevation change took its toll on our bodies.

A Telluride resident liked Patrick's third place winning painting of Cornet Creek, which had already sold, so much that he commissioned Patrick to paint another one from a different vantage point while we were still in Telluride.

$1200.00

Patrick climbed a mountain to make this painting (actually we just rode the Mountain Village gondola, but we were loaded down with a lot of gear.) "St. Sophia Nature Center" (oil on canvas, 16"x12")

$1,200.00

Patrick painted these wild onions growing in the garden of our wonderful housing hosts at their request.

Each Telluride resident who hosts an artist for the Telluride Plein Air Festival receives a painting of their choice from the artist, but our hosts actually got two, because we couldn't resist photographing and painting little Mia, their dog, as well.
